Under-Trial Prisoner Escapes From Hospital Custody

Prisoner Escapes Custody

Babu Sing Ronghang a prisoner who was under treatment in Diphu Civil Hospital, escaped from his bed by breaching the manacle with which he was locked to his bed last Thursday.

The escape was reported by a Diphu-based vernacular daily, which said Ronghang was an under-trial prisoner when he escaped from the Hospital.

According to the newspaper report, Babu Sing Ronghang severed the handcuff and escaped the on-duty constable who was supposed to be guarding him.

The Diphu Civil Hospital does not have any special or isolated building to accommodate under-trial prisoners. The prisoners are kept with general patients. The duty police also said they found it hard to keep an eye on criminals.

This was not the first escape of an Under Trial prisoner. Previously, a number of prisoners escaped from this hospital.
