Top Kashmiri Separatist Leader Ready to Hold Talks

Newsblaze Srinagar: In a major development top Kashmiri Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani said he is willing to hold talks with the Centre on the Kashmir issue.

The latest stance of the top Hurriyat leader came just days after the centre appointed J&K interlocutors for Kashmir submitted their report to the Indian Home Ministry.

“Geelani Sahib has decided that in case he is approached, he will discuss it with the members of the Hurriyat executive council and decide accordingly,” Indian newspapers quoted spokesperson Ayaz Akbar reportedly as saying.

Ironically, Syed Ali Geelani had earlier refused to meet the three-member panel of interlocutors on the Kashmir conflict and he even criticized their report.

Pertaining to this, Geelani has always been averse to direct talks with the Centre and has sought to accept the Kashmir issue as a “dispute.”
