At least eleven people were killed incuding a newly married couple in two separate road accidents in Assam’s Sonitpur district in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
According to reports, six people, including a newly-married couple were killed in a road accident in the Madhab area near Jamugurihat in Sonitpur district in the early hours of Saturday, when a vehicle collided head on with an oil tanker.
Five of those people were killed on the spot and the other person succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
In a separate incident, five labourers were killed when a brick-laden truck skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in the Gahpur area.
