A special train left Guwahati to Bangalore with nearly a thousand north east people on Saturday, who had recently fled from South India.
With 17 nos sleeper coaches and 35 security personnels, the train was driven by the Assam Forest minister Rockybul Hussain and Agriculture minister Nilamonisen Deka.
The North East Frontier railway said the train left from Guwahati railway station at 2:30 pm.
The ministers talked with the passengers of NE and assured them over the security issue.
“The people of NE are safe in Karnataka and other states of South India,” Assam minister Rockybul Hussain said.
The deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka R Ashoka also visited Assam and Manipur on August 25 and August 26 and assured to take all measures to address the security issue for the NE people.
Recently, 45,000 people of NE including 36,000 of Assam left various areas of South India followed by the rumours over the BTAD ethnic clash.
