Around 680 Ashraf Residents Ready to Move to Liberty on September 12

Following the statement by the Spokesperson for US State Department on August 29, welcoming the arrival of the sixth convoy of Ashraf residents at Camp Liberty and reiterating to work towards resolution of humanitarian issues in this Camp and to support the safety and security of the residents, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, declared, “Around 680 Ashraf residents will be ready to move from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty on September 12 and they could start loading their belongings from tomorrow even through hiring 100 trucks at their own expense.

According to former agreements with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General (SRSG) and the Government of Iraq, 58 trucks were to be allocated to transferring the belongings and the equipment of every 400 residents.”

Mrs. Rajavi added, “According to a letter sent by the SRSG before the sixth convoy moved to Liberty on August 28, the transfer of 21 trucks carrying the belongings of this convoy has to be prioritized and Iraqi officials should not obstruct the transfer of all the items mentioned in the SRSG letter, particularly the generators required for pumping water to Liberty.”

Mrs. Rajavi expressed the hope, as pointed out in the State Department’s statement, that the United States will take the appropriate measures in order to resolve the essential humanitarian issues such as water, electricity, minimum construction, and the transfer of the passenger and utility vehicles necessary for the residents’ daily life, and also to support their safety and security particularly that of the last convoy which will move to Camp Liberty on September 12.
