Diphu Organization Slams Congress MLA Majumdar’s Statement in Assembly

Controversial Autonomous State Statement

Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State ( JACAS), the Diphu based conglomeration of youth and students organization have come down heavily on the Congress MLA and ex minister Abdul Muhib Majumdar for what they said was his reckless comment on the 6th Schedule of the Indian Constitution and his advocacy for the abolition in Assam Assembly on last Saturday.

Bijoy Teron, Chief Convenor and Khorsing Teron Chairman of JACAS termed the suggestion by Abdul Muhib Majumdar a breach of Indian citizens’ right to Justice and an infringement on the provision of Schedule 5 and 6 and certain Articles of the Constitution which guaranteed special privileges for the people of particular territories.

“Devoid of the history of the Scheduled and Tribal areas, Abdul Muhib Majumdar’s reason is provocative, anti Indian and deserves strong condemnation. He should avoid such irresponsible comments in future,” Khorsing Teron Chairman of JACAS told the media.

“The Congress MLA should understand that Article 244(A) provides devolution of power on the line of a federation; hence if a federal state is workable, an autonomous state within the state of Assam is also workable,” Bijoy Teron, Chief Convenor of JACAS said.

The students and youth’s assembly have flayed the inaction of the elected MLAs of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State also sought to learn the status of all political parties on this issue.

“The true colours of the Congress party have been revealed by their own MLA this time, by demanding abolition of the little Constitutional defence of the tribal people of the hills of Assam. The party in fact has expressed its desire to change the fragile demographic pattern of the autonomous tribal territories of Assam,” Amarsing Tisso, a prominent Diphu social worker said.
