Another bloody attack in Pakistan
Unidentified armed men attacked a bus carrying members of the religious minority group called ‘Ismaili’ in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, killing 43 people and wounding 20.
According to media reports, six attackers mercilessly shot most of the victims in the head.
The bus appeared ripped with holes after the incident leaving most of the passengers dead, some unconscious and bathed with blood.
Twenty-six males and 17 females were killed in the attack.
The religious minority group who were victims of the attack was composed of men and women including children under the Shiite sect who are infamous for being heavily targeted by militants in Pakistan.
US Condemns The Bloody Attack On Minority Group
In a press statement, US Secretary John Kerry expressed strong condemnation of the heinous May 13 attack on a bus in Karachi, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of members of the Ismaili community.
“The American people stand in solidarity with the people of Pakistan, and with the global Ismaili community on this tragic day.” – Secretary Kerry
Secretary Kerry also extended his personal condolences to the families of the victims.
He pledged support on efforts to bring all those responsible to justice and said the US stands ready to provide assistance to the investigation of this tragic attack.
Terror Not Something New In Pakistan
Pakistan has been rocked by terror as perpetrated by the Pakistani Taliban through the years, The Pakistani Taliban is composed of dozens of militant factions and armed gangs since 2007. The militant group rejects Pakistan’s constitution and aims for the realization of the institution of sharia law in the country.
The Pakistani Taliban’s presence in Karachi made prominence in recent years. One of its most notorious attacks was the 17-hour siege of a Pakistani naval base near the airport in 2011.
