Ruffalo Retrieves Wallet From Stranger Through Tweets

Oblivious to whom he was helping, a good citizen of Chicago kindly tweeted the discovery of a wallet whose owner turned out to be Mark Ruffalo. Surprised to have it returned, Ruffalo was unfazed to learn the man was not aware of who he was.

Rushing out of a Chicago taxi, Ruffalo left the wallet behind for Ross McHale to find. McHale quickly made moves to get the wallet back to him.

Because he had no idea who Ruffalo was, he did a search on the internet, only to find references to the actor’s screen credits, including “The Kids Are All Right,” “You Can Count on Me” and the well known “Avengers.” Without a phone number or address, the Good Samaritan was stumped.

Because screen credits did little to help locate the wallet’s owner, McHale took it upon himself to tweet the actor, using his handle @Trezeduet.

His first tweet went something like this, “@MarkRuffalo I have your wallet. Found it in a cab in Chicago on Friday. Let me know the best way to get it back to you. Thanks.”

Ruffalo responded with, “@Trezeduet thank you! Wow! Another point for the decency in people.” He then kindly requested that McHale send him a direct message so arrangements could be made for the wallet’s return.

Through the power of social media, McHale connected to the so-called stranger and delivered the lost wallet item. Although Ruffalo, who bought the wallet from realmenswallets.com, could easily find a replacement online for the men’s fashion accessory.

While Ruffalo offered no reward for the returned wallet, McHale was fine with that and told TMZ he would rather see a “pay it forward” reward, stating “if [Mark] ever finds my wallet I expect him to return the favor.”

Ruffalo’s rep said the actor was not available to respond to McHale’s last comment.

Ruffalo, a staunch climate change advocate, was in Chicago serving as grand marshal for an auto race at the Chicagoland Speedway, supporting Leilani Munter who drove a solar-powered Toyota.

Actor Mark Ruffalo has recently appeared as The Hulk in the movie “The Hulk” and in “The Avengers.”
