Violence Rocks Karbi Anglong Amid Massive Strike

Diphu: JACAS (‘Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State’) call for strike in Karbi Anglong strike which commenced from 2:00 PM of last Friday has created violence in the state.

JACAS’ supporters were arrested on various charges were trapped in a statehood stir and turned violent near Bor Lengri locality of Bokajan subdivision when activists of JACAS torched one Enova car.

In another incident JACAS protesters burned down one auto reshow near ITI in college road close to Diphu town around 11:30 AM. Today district administration forced open few shops in Diphu town and appealed the shopkeepers for market but no attempt has been made to open government offices and financial institutions by district administration at this time.

The two incidents strikes have engulfed the entire district with look worm responses from Hamren subdivision. Leaders of JACAS meanwhile have remained rigid on their stand of not lifting the strike (Bandh) till their demands are meet. Trains still are operating as per schedule while traffic movement. However, educational institution and financial institutions have remained closed in all part of the district.
