Two NDFB Militants Killed in Assam Gun Encounter

Guwahati: Two hardcore cadres of IK Sangbijit led National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Assam’s Chirang district on Tuesday, police said.

Following a tip-off, a joint team of police and CRPF Cobra had launched at Khagrabari area in the district, where a militant group was hiding.

“When our boys reached the area militants started fire targeting to security personnel and force us to exchange bullets,” a top police official said.

“Two militants were killed on the spot,” the police official said.

Security forces recovered one 9 mm pistol, ammunition, a hand grenade in possession of slain militants.

The militants have yet to be identified.
