Two Assam Jawans Injured in Manipur Blast

Two security personnel were injured in a powerful explosion in Manipur on Friday, officials said.

A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded at Yairipok Heidroipokpi area in Thoubal district on Friday morning around 10:05 am, in which two jawans of the 15th Assam Rifles battalion were injured.

Based on intelligence input, a troops of Assam Rifles and police launched a search operation in the area against the militants, where suspected militant triggered the explosion.

“The injured security personnel were admitted to the nearest hospital,” a top official of Assam Rifles said.

Top officials of the Assam Rifles and police rushed to the explosion site and launched operation against the militants.

A few insurgent groups including People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL) were active in the area.

On February 26, an Assam Rifles jawan was killed and three others injured in an explosion at Kangbai area in Churachandpur district.
