A minor girl was allegedly raped in front of her brother by four students in Assam’s Dibrugarh district, to whom three have been arrested by police on Sunday, police said.
The incident took place near the Dibrugarh railway station on Saturday night, when the 15-year old girl with her brother on the way to Dibrugarh railway station boarded the Brahmaputra where a gang of four students allegedly raped the girl.
Dibrugarh district ASP Hiranya Barman said they were dropped outside the railway station by an auto driver and were walking towards the station when they were intercepted by the gang.
“The culprits took the girl and raped her,” the police official said.
At around 1-30 am, a police patrol party found the girl in semi naked condition outside the railway station and admitted her in Assam Medical College hospital.
After the incident, police launched operation and arrested three students of the gang.
The arrested culprits have been identified as Pranjit Dutta and Kalyan Dutta (both the students of Lahowal College) and Kiran Gogoi (a higher secondary student of Aniruddha Dev College).
The absconding other accused has been identified as Raju Gogoi (student of Lahowal College).
Police had registered a case and launched search operation to nab the absconding accused.
On other hand, police recovered body of a married woman at Maligaon area in Guwahati city.
Guwahati city police said that, the woman was killed after raped her.
