Three Killed After Being Hit By Train in Assam

At least three people were killed and two others were injured, when a passenger train hit them at an unmanned railway crossing level in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district on Saturday, officials said.

The incident took place at Balapara Chisapitha railway crossing level near Boko in the district where a passenger train hit a Tata DI vehicle.

“When the bricks laden vehicle crossed the unmanned railway crossing level, a passenger train came from Guwahati to Bongaigaon hit the vehicle,” a police official said.

Three people in the vehicle were killed on the spot and two others injured.

The deceased persons are yet to be identified.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.

Local people alleged that they have urged the Northeast Frontier (NF) railway authorities to take necessary action for the unmanned railway crossing level at the area for the past several years, but the authorities would not take action.
