Pakistan-Trained Spy Arrested in Sector 44 of Chandigarh

In a major breakthrough, the Crime Branch of the Chandigarh Police today arrested a Pak trained spy namely Kashif Ali (24) , a resident of Faislabad, State Punjab, Pakistan under section 3,4,6 of the Official Secrets Act, 14 Foreigners Act and 419,467,468,471,120B of the IPC.

The UT police nabbed the accused on secret information as a naka was laid in Sector -44, here this afternoon. A team headed by Inspector Amanjot Singh and Inspector Neeraj Sarna along with other officials received information that a person who is a Muslim national is collecting restricted information regarding the Indian army and restricted information concerning the security of the nation and further passing it to Pakistan – has been staying in Chandigarh for the past two and a half years, and is presently staying in Sector-44.

He was driving a blue coloured Maruti Car (CH01-H-0010) and was keeping an eye on the vital defence installations, including Chandimandir Western Command, Air force station, Chandigarh and also on the movement and the deployment of theIndian army and was passing on vital restricted information to Pakistan.

On a search, one driversg licence issued by Transport Authority, New Delhi was recovered and the licence bears the photograph of Kasif Ali and the name on the licence was mentioned as Pawan Kumar. A few copies of restricted documents relating to the Indian army were also recovered from himas well as a digital camera. It is yet to be ascertained from the analysis of this camera whether there is any pictorial material or otherwise. One receipt of Regional Passport Office, Chandigarh, which bears the name of Pawan Kumar was also recovered from him.

He further revealed that he has been staying in Chandigarh for the past about two and a half years with the pseudo name of Pawan Kumar.
