Organizations Charge Karbi Anglong Chief Executive Member With Swindling

Diphu November 6: Several student and youth organizations have demanded a CBI inquiry against Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuli Ram Ronghang and Executive Member Mongol Sing Timung. They raised graft charges against both of the elected public representatives. The organizations allege that both the executives have annexed a mammoth total of movable, unmovable and cash assets in various part of the nation which is vastly disproportionate to their known source of income.

In a joint press release, Karbi Students Association ( Inglengpo faction), Karbi Unemployed Youth Association, Karbi Farmers Association, KAIYA and another newly constituted youth organization have openly challenged both executives of KAAC to prove that their accumulated wealth is in proportion to their recognized resource of earnings.

The release, signed by Bidya Sing Teron, Samsing Hansey, Stalin Engti and Kurasar Ingti, demanded the resignation of both councillors from public office owing moral responsibility, as they have lost the people’s confidence. The organizations allege that executive members of the Tuli Ram Ronghang-led executive committee of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council in league with a group of bureaucrat and administrators have made it a custom to swindle public money to fill their personal treasure chests.

The Signatories also claimed that none other than Khoro Sing Engti, seated Hill Areas Development Minister of Gogoi cabinet is providing protection from all corners to the group of corrupt executive members of KAAC and the group of bureaucrats who facilitate defrauding of extra-large amounts of public funds without executing any scheme which benefits the general people.

The organizations while labelling the KAAC executive members as anti people, scroungers and swindlers have affirmed that the organizations will keep on exposing and resisting the custom of misappropriation of public money by the so-called public leaders and officials. The student and youth leaders warned that the CEM and the EMs will have to confront an enraged public for their immoral actions; they have called upon the people of Karbi Anglong to build up a forceful movement against the CEM and the EMs.
