Indonesian Girl Duped By Diphu Youth

Diphu October 23: A Facebook romance met with an unusual heartbreak, the unfolding flipside of long distance love affair in Diphu yesterday. According to Diphu police, a romance through facebook between Santi Nikasiri, an Indonesian girl, and Gulab Khan (24) ultimately dragged Santi Nikasiri (23) from her home in Sumatra province, Bandra Lumpung city, all the way to Diphu in a remote part of northeast India.

Santi Nikasiri arrived in Diphu on October 20 to unite with Gulab Khan, of Diphu hospital colony after a long love affair through facebook and telephone since 2010. Her illusion about Gulab Khan was short-lived.

On Tuesday, she discovered many harsh realities which did not match her fantasy. Her castle in the air was scuttled once she found that her lover’s father is a driver in Diphu civil hospital and Gulab is already married to Semi Khan and is the father of a child.

Coming to know about the admittance of Santi Nikasari in the life of Gulab Khan, and their plan of leaving India on 25th of this month, Semi Khan, wife of Gulab Khan, who was in Haflong arrived in Diphu on Tuesday with her child. As she learned about the drama unfolding, Semi went to Diphu police station and lodged a complaint against her husband and Santi Nikasari.

When Santi and Gulab were questioned by police, the Indonesian girl told the them that she was not told about Gulab’s marital status right from the beginning of their affair over distant communication; she also admitted before police that Gulab mentioned about his matrimony much later it was hard for her to believe, as she was deeply involved.

Santi Nikasari is the daughter of Md. Siddiq of Sukabanjar village, under Sukabanjar police station, in the Gununalip district, she is travelling on tourist visa which expires on April 10, 2014 and a valid passport with validity until September 17, 2018.
