Fresh Violence Erupts in Assam’s Kokrajhar District

Fresh violence has erupted in BTAD as two civilians were killed by miscreants in two separate incidents in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Saturday, officials said.

The first incident took place at Gosaigaon area on Saturday morning when an armed group fired on three farmers, when they were working in their paddy field.

“The miscreants fired on the farmers. One farmer was killed on the spot and two managed to escape,” a police official said.

The victim was identified as ainul Sheikh.

In another incident, a miscreant killed one civilian in Kokrajhar.

District administration has sounded high alert in the district after the incidents.

Recently, at least 76 people were killed and over four lakh people were displaced in violence in BTAD area of lower Assam.

Over 39 thousand people took place at relief camps in Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Chirang districts, who were displaced in the violence.
