Envoys of Muslim Countries Call on Kashmir CM

Srinagar, Sept 2: The envoys of two Muslim countries called on the Chief minister of Indian administered Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Friday and discussed the prevailing situation in the region.

An official spokesman said Egypt’s envoy to India Khaled-El-Bakly called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar this evening.

“The matters of mutual interests were discussed in the meeting,” he said.

He further said earlier Ambassador of Oman to India Sheikh Humaid Ali Sultan- Al-Maani called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here and discussed the prevailing political and economic situation in the region.

“The Chief Minister briefed them about the measures being taken by his government to improve the law and order situation in the region so that more and more tourists visit Kashmir to enjoy natural beauty,” they said.

They also said Omar briefed them about the measures taken to ensure that there would be zero human rights violations by soldiers. “Clear indications have been given to the armed forces to respect the human rights of people while dealing with militancy.”
