Assam Security Forces Nab Notorious Nine Militants

Security forces apprehended nine militants of several outfit groups in Assam on Monday, officials said.

Four hardcore cadres of the newly formed militant group Karbi Longri Raikom Asong (KLRA) recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Karbi Anglong district on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, Hamren district police launched a search operation at Dongkamukam area and apprehended four cadres of the outfit group.

“Police launched the operation led by Hamren SP Nityananda Goswami and nabbed the militants who were involved in extortions in the area,” a top police official said.

The nabbed militants were identified as Tenison alias Sonjar, Ranjit Timung, Robinson Inghi and Sanjit Teron.

Police recovered one AK-56 rifles with magazine, 19 rounds of live ammunition, 22 nos electronic detonators, 66 meters fuse wire, four mobile handsets in possession of them.

Meanwhile, Kabi Anglong police nabbed three cadres of UPDS at Dilai area in the hill district.

Police recovered two pistols and ammunition in their possession.

In addition, Sonitpur police apprehended two hardcore cadres of anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) at Bhomuraguri near Tezpur in the district on Sunday.

The nabbed militant duo were identified as Jatin Narzary and Putuli Narzary and security forces recovered one 7.62 mm pistol, five Chinese made hand grenades in possession of them.
