6 KPLT Militants Killed in Assam Encounter

Guwahati, April 20: Six hardcore militants of Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) including a top brass leader of the outfit were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Friday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Assam police and CRPF (Cobra) launched a search operation at Chakihola area under Bokajan police station in the hills district, where a militant group was hiding.

“Based on our intelligence report, we have launched a search operation at the hills area. When we reached the spot, thecmilitant group that was hiding opened fire and heavy fires exchanged,” a police official said.

The encounter occured around 11:50 am on Friday in which six militants were killed on the spot.

“Among the slain militants, one was identified as Nilip Inghi and he was the Secretary of the outfit,” a police source said.
