The United States of America today expressed deep disappointment that Iranian judicial authoritites have sentended

Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal to 8 years in prison.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton today said the United States continues to call and work for their immediate release.

“It is time for them to return home and be reunited with their families.” -Ms. Clinton

She said she joins President Obama and the people of the United States in expressing their unflagging support for Shane, Joshua, Sarah and their families during this difficult time.

Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal were detained by Iranian authories were detained by Iranian border guards for alleged espionage while hiking in Iraqi Kurdistan on 2009.

Mr. Bauer is a freelance photojournalist and journalist. He is is fluent in speaking Arabic.

Mr. Fattal is environmentalist and educator. He had been a teaching fellow for the International Honors Program (IHP)’s “Health and Community” study abroad program.
