U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton today sent her best wishes to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on his 84th birthday and congratulate the people of Thailand on their National Day.
“I hope this special occasion will be an opportunity to promote healing as Thailand recovers from the devastating floods.” -Ms. Clinton
She said His Majesty to the Kingdom of Thailand is a tireless advocate for the Thai people and the enduring bonds between two countries. She said she was honored to visit Thailand last month to personally convey U.S. support for Thailand in the wake of the tragic natural disaster, and underscore the U.S. commitment to Thailand’s recovery.
She stressed that the United States will continue to identify ways the American government can provide both military and civilian assistance to restore lives and sustain Thailand’s long-term recovery and rebuilding.

King Bhumibol’s personal wealth is tremendous. Forbes estimated Bhumibol’s personal fortune, some of which is managed by the Crown Property Bureau to be US$30 billion in 2010. He is considered the wealthiest man in Thailand and the world’s wealthiest royal.
