Somali Parliament Term Extension is Undisputable

Somali members of the parliaments told the media that the decision of the parliament’s mandate extension by three years was indeed indisputable.

MP. Awad Ahmed Hasharo, the chairman of Somali parliament’s information committee said that they will never recognize the result of UN sponsored consultative meeting on Somalia that was concluded in Nairobi.

MP. Hasharo said, “The meeting aims that the parliament decision was accurate and indisputable. The parliaments don’t care about outcomes of the recently finished UN meeting on Somalia in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.”

Lawmaker Awad Ahmed Ashara condemned Ambassador Mahiga that he took the peace process unwillingly. He is setting up to separate and destroy Somali transitional federal government.

Mr. Awad Ahmed Ashara blamed Mahiga of trying to create conflict and disagreements in Somalia. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, another Somali MP, said that UN envoy wants to divide Somalia.

Hundred of Somali MPs recently opposed the outcome of consulative meeting held in Nairobi spearheaded by Mr. Augustine Mahiga, the UN special envoy for Somalia.

Nevertheless, the parliaments confirmed that that meeting was to segregate Somali senior TF governors as well as to wipe out the government’s existence.

President Sharif and Premier Farmajo do believe that Mahiga would like to create long-term process by creating conflict in the region. At the end of the meeting, it was planned that the mandate extension of the parliament should be reduced to two years.

Somalia is a country where its central government is not functioning well since 1991. The country has been torn apart by decades of conflict and factional strife.
