ABC has announced Monday that the creator of All My Children herself Agnes Nixon will return to Pine Valley, Pennsylvania as Agnes Eckhardt, one of the veteran board members of Pine Valley Hospital, where she’ll check herself in as part of her storyline. She first played the role in January 2005 for the show’s 35th anniversary, and a different role on AMC in 2008 as Aggie, the ghost of the woman who put Pine Valley on the map in 1870.
Nixon also created One Life to Live (OLTL), where she also made an appearance to celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary in July 2008 when Victoria “Viki” Lord (Erika Slezak), her leading heroine, took a brief trip to Heaven.
Besides AMC and OLTL, Nixon also co-created Loving (1983-95) and spin-off The City (1995-97), and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys last year.
Nixon’s first AMC episode will air this Wednesday on ABC.
