Sounds a bit biblical but we are speaking of gross negligence and lack of ethics. So where is the best location for a potentially catastrophic Lithium Battery Storage Facility?
A desert? An isolated island on the East River or Jamaica Bay? Big Business believes they have found the perfect location; across the street from Elementary Public School PS 128, a Day Care center, and an Animal Hospital, smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

On Thursday, Feb. 26th, Paul Pogozelski of the Middle Village property and Residents Association opened: “Let me be clear: We are not against clean energy. We are against placing a lithium battery storage facility in the middle of our residential neighborhood — directly across from a school. Middle Village is homes, Families. Seniors. Small businesses. It is not an industrial zone. NineDot Energy says this project is safe. Fine. Prove it. We are formally inviting NineDot Energy to attend an upcoming civic meeting to provide a full public presentation and answer questions — not pre-screened, but from both leadership and residents. Because our community deserves real answers:
What happens if there is a fire?
Who is responsible for emergency responses and long-term environmental impact?
Who removes and disposes of the batteries at End of life?
If NineDot, established in 2019, goes under is there a reserve fund to remove the batteries or will the community be held responsible.
Who pays for property damage if something goes wrong?
Are homeowners fully protected — in writing?
How will NineDot mitigate excessive noise to their neighbors?
Secret Lithium Battery Storage Facility
And here is what is truly unacceptable: While permits were being filed and plans were advancing, our community was told nothing. No public meetings. No notice. No transparency from the company …. This project is backed by major investment firms, including The Carlyle Group, which manages nearly $500 billion in assets — yes, billions with a “B.” These companies answer to investors. Battery storage facilities generate revenue through peak pricing. When prices go up — residents pay. When profits go to the investors, the risk stays with the community. So let me repeat what we are asking for: Transparency. Safety. Accountability. Respect. Until this community receives clear, documented, enforceable guarantees, our message is simple: Not here. Not like this.”
Electricity: The Clean Energy Scam
Approximately 85% to 90% of the electricity generated within New York City is powered by fossil fuels (primarily natural gas). Regarding heating efficiency, electric heating wastes roughly 60-70% of the original fuel energy compared to modern natural gas furnaces.
Besides catastrophic, inextinguishable battery fires, mining for lithium and other elements, coal burning to make steel and concrete to build the infrastructures for Nuclear, wind and hydroelectric power plants, there are a multitude of other pollutants from the production of batteries.

Fighting for the safety and Quality of Life of residents, Raimondo Graziano from Senator Joseph Addabbo’s office and City Councilman Phil Wong discussed their efforts to have the NineDot Energy lithium battery storage facility placed in more appropriate industrial areas.
Hidden Costs For New Yorkers
Jonathan David Rinaldi added more of what the City of Yes brought New Yorkers, “When you put a lithium battery storage facility in a residential neighborhood, insurance companies see one thing: higher risk. And higher risk means higher insurance premiums. And when insurance goes up — everything goes up. Your homeowner’s insurance? Up. Your car insurance? Up. If you rent? Your landlord’s insurance goes up — and your rent follows. Your local deli? Their insurance goes up. Your grocery store? Goes up. Your barber? Goes up. They don’t absorb it. They pass it on to you. So now your property taxes are already set to go up… And now your insurance is about to go up. That’s a double hit on every family standing here.”
