The Punisher: Punishing The Guilty and Corrupt

Since 1974, Frank Castle/The Punisher remains both the classic comic book anti-hero and the anti-Batman with one only motto: punishing the guilty and corrupt. Though he is one of the “Marvel Knights”, he remains one of the most controversial and difficult – especially when it comes bringing him to life on the big screen. There were three attempts in 1989 and 2004 (The Punisher), and 2008 (Punisher: War Zone) for him to have his own franchise starring Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane, and Ray Stevenson with little or modest success.

Still, you might consider Frank Castle/The Punisher is part-Rambo, part-Jack Bauer: a one-man army using extralegal means necessary to wipe out the worst of society – thieves, robbers, rapists, killers, and child molesters. But he never forgets why he does what he does: his family was the victims of organized crime, and that war will continue in a new series from writer Greg Rucka and artist Marco Checchetto.

This upcoming arc finds the vigilante taking on a new breed of syndicate that is more updated and dangerous than he has ever faced; the first two issues of the new series will be released next month.
