‘HGTV Design Star’ Winner Jen Bertrand Makes Colorful Solo Debut in ‘Paint-Over!

Winner of Hit Reality Competition Launches Her Own Special

Thursday, January 1, at 5 p.m. ET

After painting circles around her competitors and winning the title of HGTV Design Star, Jen Bertrand is ready to make a splash with her new HGTV special, Paint-Over! With Jennifer Bertrand. In the show, premiering on Thursday, January 1, at 5 p.m. ET, Jennifer will paint her way across America and show how a little paintbrush wizardry can transform everything from cabinets and couches to floors and ceilings. Jen will travel across the country searching for homeowners who want a change in their decor and are ready for a “paint-over.” In addition, viewers can visit hgtv.com/paintover to check out 10 great Web episodes with step-by-step instructions for projects featured in the special.

“Jen’s bright style is matched perfectly with her bubbly personality and viewers will respond strongly to both,” said Bill Myers, director of programming, HGTV. “Her enthusiasm is infectious, and her clear teaching style makes home design a fun and easy activity instead of an intimidating chore.”

Paint-Over! features a variety of one-of-a-kind projects from many different places. In each city she visits, Jen’s unique style turns drab to fab – making design approachable and fun. In Maryland, Jen will meet soon-to-be parents Shari and Pat Marsden, who need help jazzing up their living room using special no-harm paints. At a train station in Connecticut, Jen will meet James and Nicki Sizemore and agrees to add some new colors to the “outdoor” room where the Sizemores entertain guests. And in Philadelphia, Jen will tackle two projects: First, she will inject some testosterone into one homeowner’s “man cave” so he can invite buddies over for poker. Next, Jen will work with the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team to make over the Rivera Recreational Center for the Liga del Barrio charity basketball league.

Jen believes that being part of the HGTV family allows her to combine everything she loves “in one package,” including her passion for teaching, love of design and ability to make things fun. In addition to Paint-Over!, online viewers can log on to hgtv.com/paintover, where Jen also will share some amazing holiday decorating ideas in a series of Web episodes. Jen also will appear in HGTV Showdown in February 2009, where she will go head-to-head in a battle against other winners of HGTV Design Star.
