Go Now: Daytime Emmy Predictions, Part 2

Hello, this is Garrett Godwin, and it is time to Go Now. Here on this special edition at Newsblaze, I’m bringing you the nominations in the soap-opera genre for the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. So, keep up.

Here are the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor:

David Canary (Adam/Stuart, All My Children)

Anthony Geary (Luke, General Hospital)

Peter Bergman (Jack, The Young & The Restless)

Christian Le Blanc (Michael, Y&R)

Thaao Penghlis (Tony/Andre, Days of Our Lives)

Predictions: Bergman, Le Blanc, and Geary are incredible in layering these characters as deeply flawed, complex, and conflicted anti-heroes that walk the line between right and wrong — whether you love these characters, hate them, love to hate them, hate to love them or all of the above. In their roles, they can make you feel anger or make you break your heart. It was a shock for Penghlis to be nominated for a soap that is starting to get back on track thanks to the writing, but don’t see him winning in this category. Still, it’s a tough category because these daytime veterans have put in intense, gut-wrenching, emotional performances.

Snubs: Robert S. Woods (Bo, One Life to Live) should’ve been in this category for his performance, when his character unleashed his anger at his father’s funeral while trying to grieve in his own way. His co-star, Michael Easton should also be in this category when his character, John McBain, had to decide between his job as a cop and his love for his family. There should also another Life to this category, thanks to Trevor St. John (Todd), whose character found out his son was alive and did whatever he’d do to get him back.

Well, there you have it. Remember to vote for your favorites and post your comments in the Soaps section at TV Guide.

The 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be broadcasted on June 20 at the Kodak Theatre at 8pm Eastern on ABC.

And don’t forget to check out the latest, right here at Newsblaze. I’m Garrett Godwin, and I have to Go Now once again, so I’ll see you later.
