Two NDFB Militants Killed in Gun Fight in Kokrajhar District, Assam

Guwahati, January 14: Two hardcore cadres of I K Sangbijit led anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were killed in a gun fight with security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Monday, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, police and army jointly launched an operation against the militants at Belasi area near Laupani Lungchung reserve forest border of Kokrajhar and Chirang district, where they were hiding.

“The militant group started firing on the security personnel and they were forced to exchange bullets,” a top police official of Kokrajhar district said.

“Two militants of the anti-talk faction group of NDFB were killed on the spot,” police said.

The slain militant duo have yet to be identified.

Security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in possession of the slain militants.

A NDFB militant was apprehended by police and they recovered two Chinese made hand grenades from Bijni area of Chirang district on Sunday.

The nabbed militant was identified as Chailot Narzary.
