Long-Serving Somali Soccer Club Chairman Dies

Hajji Abdulle Roble Jusle the founder and chairman of Kesco Football Club died in Nairobi on Wednesday morning at the age of 73, Somali Football Federation announced in a statement.

Somali Football Federation said in its press statement that the late club chairman had suffered from a long illness and was taken to Nairobi for treatment just nearly two years ago.

“He was the oldest chairman and was one of the great volunteers who helped the revival of Somali football in early 1990s, the history of Somali football will always mention him-may Allah rest him in peace” Somali Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said that with his death Somali Football missed another great individuality.

The death of the Club chairman coincides with weeks after when a suicide explosion in Mogadishu killed former SFF president Said Mahmoud Nur whose death was a big sadness for the entire Somali Football Family members.

“Hajji Abdulle was the father of all football club chairmen in Somalia -we really missed a man who spent a lot in the promotion of football in Somalia” added Abdulkader Ali Barre who chairs Dahabshiil Football club.

The book of condolence has been opened at the Somali Football Federation headquarters in ****Mogadishu**** where hundreds have signed to offer their condolences since the sad news has come to light earlier in the day.
