In India, Ramleela Club Barara, Distt. Ambala,(Haryana) is all set to break its own world record by making the world’s tallest Ravana effigy.
Founder President of the club, Rana Tejinder Singh Chauhan, while giving information to the media, told that like every year the historical Ramlila programme has started from September 15 and will continue till September 28. On the day of Dusshehra or Vjaydashmi on September 28, this world’s tallest Ravana effigy would be burnt.
A group of Muslim artisans from the city of Agra has been here for the past five months to build this huge effigy for a Hindu festival. These Muslim workers, while fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, made the effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhkarana and presented an example of communal harmony. The members of the Ramlila Club too, by fulfilling the needs of those Muslims artisans, displayed liberalism and brotherhood.
Club President, Rana Tejinder Singh Chauhan told that he believes this tallest effigy would be able to get a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Chauhan said that by creating this world record, he wanted to project Barara as a role model for communal harmony in the world. He has appealed to the people of India as well as the people of Ambala & Barara for cooperation in this extremely ambitious project.
