Body of Kritika Singh Returns to Kathmandu, Saturday

Departure arrangements for the body of Kritika Singh have been made, leaving on Saturday and arriving in Kathmandu on Monday.

Kritika Singh was killed in a vehicle accident on Tuesday when her vehicle collided with a mattress that fell off another vehicle. Apparently, she was not wearing a seat belt. A male passenger in Singh's vehicle, who was wearing a seat belt, survived the crash. [ Young Nepali Woman Dies in Car Accident in Virginia ]

Medini Adhikari, General Secretary of the Association of Nepalese in the Americas said today "We are overwhelmed by the level of public support to the late Kritika Singh's Fund. We have decided to stop accepting online donations effective 11.59 PM Friday night 11/21/2008."

Around $35,000 was raised. Payments that were already mailed will be accepted. The donor list will be posted soon.

Those close to Kritika decided not to have a public memorial but will offer Prayers and Prashad at Mandir on a later date.

VIU students worked very hard despite the great loss of their beloved friend. Prashish Shreshtha administered the account, Roshani Rai, Alka Katuwal and Abhi Praya Subedi assisted and the university has been very cooperative.

ANA thanks everyone who responded to their urgent request. It is an example of what ANA does in difficult times. Medini Adhikari said "I personally would like to thank all the local metro DC community activists who requested us to lead this crisis."
