To curb the unemployment problem, the Assam government has planned to train at least 1 lakh unempolyed youths each year through vocational training within the state and in various sectors.
At the launching of a skill development pragramme in Guwahati on Friday, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said unemployment problem among the youth is a major problem in the state.
To ease the problem, the state government planned a traning programme for the unemployed youths.
“At present both high and semi-skilled workforce are in high demand and the state must produce manpower as demanded by industrial sectors,” Gogoi said.
During the programme, Assam Industry and Commerce minister Pradyut Bordoloi announched that the state govenment will set up four multi disciplinary skill development training centres in Karimganj, Nagaon, Dhubri and Tinsukia.
“The Cottage Industries Training Institute will be upgraded by the end of the month of May and the state government plans to set up 23 multi disciplinary skill development training centres during this year as well,” Bordoloi said.
The Assam government hopes that it will reduce the unemployment problem and the state government will do better for the unemployed youths, Bordoloi added.
