United Jihad Council (UJC), an alliance of the militant groups operating from Pakistan controlled Kashmir (PcK), Friday warned Pakistan against granting Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India, saying its outcome won’t be good.
“To grant MFN status to India tantamounts to rubbing salt on the wounds of Kashmiris and this move by the Pakistani government is likely to damage the freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people. The Pakistani leadership must take into confidence the people of Kashmir,” said UJC chief and supreme commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Syed Salahudin while addressing the command council of the outfit, according to a statement issued by Hizb here today.
He also said Pakistan has always supported the Kashmiris freedom struggle based on truth. “If the country (Pakistan) grants MFN status to India, it would be a direct change in the stand and it will have negative impact on Kashmir struggle,” he said.
“India and its forces have since 1947 in general and 1988 in particular subjected the people of Kashmir to limitless atrocities and lakhs of people have been massacred. Towns and villages have been set to blazes and attempts are being made to violate the sanctity of our women. Under these circumstances, if any leader or leadership grants India Most Favour Nation status, it is sure to create an atmosphere of mistrust. People and leadership of Kashmir will disrespect the decision and its outcome will not be good,” Salahudin said.
It is in place to mention here that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabani has recently said that her country has decided in principle to grant the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India.
