Two powerful IEDs were recovered in Assam on Thursday ahead of Republic Day, officials said.
A powerful bomb was found near a police station in Assam’s Darrang district on Thursday morning, after three hand grenades recovered inside the Kakopathar police station in Tinsukia district on January 23.
“The bomb was found near the Mangaldoi police station and parade ground on Thursday morning,” a top police official said.
Reports say the bomb was planted by a suspected militant for triggered explosion targeting security forces.
Later the army bomb squad team defused the bomb.
Meanwhile, the anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) claimed responsibility for the planted the bomb.
In addition, an IED was found at Goreswar Gasbari area on Thursday morning.
The IED was planted by suspected anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) near a culvert of Baihata-Goreswar road.
Three hand grenades were recovered inside the Kakopathar police station in Tinsukia district on January 23.
The outlawed ULFA militants attacked the Namtola police station in Sivsagar district on the night of January 22nd, where a police constable was injured and four vehicles were damaged in bullet injuries.
11 outfit groups of the North Eastern region of India including ULFA, NDFB called a general strike on January 26 and boycott the Republic Day.
