Security forces apprehended two hardcore maoist cadres in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Saturday evening, police said on Sunday.
According to reports, a joint team of police and army launched operation at Tingkhang area in the upper Assam district and nabbed the maoist cadres.
“Following a tip-off, Dibrugarh police and army jointly conducted the operation at Tingkhang area, where the nabbed red rebels were hidden,” Assam police IGP (Law and Order) SN Singh said.
The nabbed red rebels were identified as Palash Gogoi and Anil Singh Rautia and security forces seized a 9 mm pistol, magazine, ammunition, mobile handsets in possession of them.
Meanwhile, Assam police DGP Jayanta Narayan Choudhury said that, the left wing extremists active in at least 14 districts of the state and continued recruitment drive in several districts.
Also, Nagaon police recovered 200 rounds live ammunition of point 32 pistol at Jamunamukh area under Hojai sub-division and apprehended a person on Saturday night.
