Two KPLT Leaders Surrender to Karbi Anglong Police

KPLT Commander in Chief surrenders

In a startling move, the Commander in Chief of KPLT ( Karbi People Liberation Tiger) Swaran Killing and his deputy Pangri Timung surrendered to Karbi Anglong police today. The two men claimed that with their surrender, the core group of the dreaded militant outfit will come out of the shadows soon.

Both militant leaders who were under the scanner of the joint security force engaged in a Counter Insurgency operation in Karbi Anglong district ultimately came over ground dramatically by giving up an AK 56 assault rifle to the outgoing Superintendent of Karbi Anglong Police, M. J. D. Mahanta, around 10.00 AM today.

Swaran Killing, after the ceremonial laying down of arms, told the local media that the entire armed cadres under his command will come over ground. He also said that he, on behalf of the outfit, henceforth disband the Karbi People Liberation Tiger, paving the way for lasting peace in the hills of Assam.

The abrupt move of the KPLT Commander in Chief surprised many professionals engaged in counter insurgency operations in the region. Many believe that the outfit, which is currently fragmented into a number of factions, may not accept the command of Swaran Killing. They think that there are ample grounds to believe that sporadic incidents of violence may transpire even after his surrender.
