Top Maoist Leader Remains in NIA Custody

Top maoist leader Indranil Chandra alias Ajay Da has remained in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday, officials said.

The top leader of the militant group was arrested in Kolkata recently.

An official of NIA said Indranil Chandra was the head of the rebel group in Assam and he visited the north eastern state several times.

“With aim to set an organisational base in Assam, the nabbed maoist leader was in touch with the local cadres of the militants,” a NIA official said.

Meanwhile, NIA has filed charge sheet against the top three People’s Liberation Army (PLA) leaders at the designated court in Guwahati on 20th of Ma. The chargesheet revealed that the PLA militants have supplied arms to maoist.

In this month, four maoist cadres were killed in an encounter with security forces at Sadia area in Tinsukia district along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

The left-wing rebels had set up few camps in Arunachal Pradesh and formed three leading committee with arms wings in Assam.
