Top Manipuri Militant, Three NSLA Militants Captured in Assam

Security forces on Friday night apprehended four hardcore militants including a top leader of the Manipur outfit group Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) in Assam, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Guwahati city police and Nagaon police launched a search operation at Hojai in Nagaon district and arrested a top KCP militant group leader.

The captured KCP militant was identified as Ibomusa Singh alias Michael.

“Ibomusa Singh, the action commander and area commander of the militant group of Imphal West and Thoubal districts in Manipur was one of the most wanted militants in Manipur, who was involved in several extortion, abduction cases,” Ranjan Bhuyan, Guwahati city SP said.

In a separate incident, security forces apprehended three hardcore militants of National Santhal Liberation Army (NSLA) in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Friday night, police said.

Following a tip-off, a joint team of police and CRPF launched an operation in the Balagaon area near Gossaigaon under BTAD on Friday night and captured the militants.

The arrested militants were identified as Buddhiram Soren, Sunil Hemrom and Khablu Tudu.

Police recovered one AK-47 rifle, two 7.65 pistols, three magazines, 20 rounds of live ammunition from them.
