Shinde Visits Indo-Bangla Border

Guwahati, October 20: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Saturday visited the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Dhubri district to review security measures in the border and illegal influx.

Along with top officials and Border Security Force (BSF) officials, Shinde visited Mahamayachar and Sishumarachar areas of the riverine border with Bangladesh to take stock security measures and unabated illegal influx across the border.

The Union Home Minister also visited Mancachar areas and some Border Out Post (BOP)s and interacted with officials, BSF jawans.

“In the unfenced land border and riverine border areas, it will be resumed flood light facilities soon,” Shinde said.

Shinde landed in Guwahati from Delhi and went to Panbari in the Dhubri district by helicopter.

During his a day long visit to Assam, the Union Home Minister also reviewed security measures with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and other top officials of the state government.
