Senior BJP Leader LK Advani Quits PM Race in 2014 Elections

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani has made it clear that he is not competing for the PM seat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The 86 year old leader, LK Advani was addressing a Press conference in Nagpur after the meeting with BJP ally party RSS Chief Mohan Baghwat. “I do not want to become the prime minister,” Advani replied when he was asked if he is the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.

Meanwhile RSS is in favour of a younger leader, who can be projected as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate during the 2014 elections.

LK Advani was the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections but the party-led National Democratic Alliance lost to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance. Later he stepped aside to let the younger leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley take the roles as leaders of opposition.

Sushma Swaraj was made the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha despite Advani being the senior-most BJP MP. Jaitley received the same position in the Rajya Sabha.

Now BJP is looking for a young and dynamic candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha election. The party has one option in the shape of Gujrat chief minister Narendar Modi whose credibility was predicted by U.S. Congress.

The U.S. congressional report says Gujarat State Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi, a Congress Party chief may face off in the 2014 Indian election. Rahul Gandhi is a young dynamic candidate for the Congress party in the 2014 elections and the son of the former late prime minister of India Rajeev Gandhi.
