RGOK and KRA Accuse Authority of Abating Rebel Group

Sanim Kuki, in charge of publicity for the Kuki Revolutionary Army, has issued a press release, urging authorities “to stop encouraging and abating the so called KRA (Assam) for the greater interest of permanent peace in the region and the Kukigam ( Kuki inhabited areas) of Karbi Anglong.”

Expressing dismay over the inaction of the authority, Sanim Kuki the representative of KRA presently who is under ceasefire, pointed out in the press statement that “we have apprised the authority about the true identity of the leaders who have illegally formed the outfit. They have no moral right to use our letter head and name of the organisation. We like to request the government to stop giving them financial aid.”

Virtually accusing the government of being the mentor of ‘KRA (Assam)’, Sanim Kuki mentioned that his organization laid down arms on 24th January 2012 in Guwahati in the presence of the union minister of Home and Chief Minister of Assam.

He stated that their genuine demands will be solved through negotiation and not by guns and bullets. That is the reason they deposited their arms and pinned hope that this action will help the Kuki people of the locality to live in peace.

“We are very sorry to say that a rebel group KRA (Assam) with financial help from the government are carrying out armed operation in some Kuki villages. I like to ask the authority, when and where this so called KRA (Assam)surrendered and to whom? How many weapons did they deposit? How they are carrying out extortion, threatening, harassment of innocent public and carrying arms, making forced recruitment and issuing identity cards?”

Sanim Kuki said that they came out of their jungle camp to stay in the encampment designated by the administration to hold peace talks with the government. Their aim is to settle genuine causes, but the Kuki Revolutionary Army of the Revolutionary Government of Kukigam is yet to receive justice from the government.

“We like to request the government to stop abating and encouraging the KRA (Assam) as they have no moral right to represent us,” he stressed.
