Police Personnel and NDFB Militant Arrested in Assam

Nexus between security personnel and militant once again came to light after Assam police arrested three police personnel and a National Democratic front of Bodoland (NDFB) militant.

The Assam Police recovered a huge cache of arms-ammunitions in lower Assam’s Nalbari district on Thursday, police said.

“Based on intelligence report, Nalbari and Baska police jointly launched a search operation led by Nalbari district SP Abu Sufian and arrested three police personnels and a NDFB militant and recovered a huge cache of arms-ammunitions,” a police official said.

The search operation in Nalbari district led to the arrest of two police personnel named Kamini Barman(Havilder), Gopal Choudhury (Constable) and a cadre of pro-talk NDFB, who identified as D Dalai alias Bipul Daimary, Nalbari district SP Abu Sufian said.

“We were informed by the intelligence report that the nabbed police personnel handed over arms-ammunitions to the militant group,” Sufian said.

Security forces recovered one pistol, one revolver, 60 rounds live ammunitions of point 22 pistol, 360 rounds live ammunitions of AK-47 rifle and SLR in their possession.

Meanwhile, Baska police arrested another police personnel named Bhagawan Sarmah.

“We suspect the nabbed pro-talk NDFB cadre is working for the anti-talk faction group and he gave managed arms-ammunitions the militants with the help of some security personnel,” a police official said.
