NIA Chief Visits Strife-torn Kokrajhar District

National Investigation Agency (NIA) Chief Sharad Kumar on Thursday visited several areas in Assam’s Kokrajhar district and reviewed the investigation process by the agency of the massacre by NDFB(S) militants in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar district that left at least 80 adivasi people dead and rendered more than two lakh homeless.

A top official of the investigation agency said the NIA Chief visited Ultapani, Lungchung, and Pakhriguri areas in the district and took part in a crucial meeting with the top NIA and police officials.

Sharad Kumar also visited the Dhekiajuli and Biswanath Chariali areas in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.

During his three-day visit to Assam, the NIA Chief took part in meetings with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Assam Police DGP Khagen Sarma in Guwahati on January 6.

NIA had registered four cases of the recent massacre by NDFB(S) militants in Assam.
