NDFB Called Bandh in Northeast Indian State Assam

To strengthen the Boroland movement as well as to demand to take decision to solve the Boroland problem during this Monsoon Session of the parliament, the NDFB (P) has called a 48-hours National Highway and Railway bandh in entire Northeast Indian State, Assam, starting at 5:00 am of the 1st August, 2011, till 5:00 am of the 3rd August, 2011. Except the vehicles of the essential services, such as – electricity, press as well as electronic media, medical services and milk supply no other vehicle will be allowed to ply on the National High way and no train – carrying either goods or passengers will be allowed on its track during the bandh period.

In a press note, the Information & Publicity Secretary, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive), shortly say NDFB(P), S. Sanjarang stated, “The passion to have Boroland state into reality is not only deep rooted but also wells up in the blood of Boro people of all the ages. It is beyond contradiction that from the point of view of history, ethnic identity, language & culture and constitutional provision they have every right to have a state of their own. During last forty five years’ movement for Boroland, thousands have sacrificed their lives and are still ready to sacrifice themselves for the cause.

Democratic Front
A view of an incident, where Indian railway coaches were lying on the ground, when antitalks faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Ranjan Daimary Group) that is, shortly say – NDFB (R), one of the insurgent group of northeast India, triggered a powerful blast, which flung the locomotive and two coaches of the Garib Rath Express, bound for Kolkata (capital of Indian State West Bengal) from Guwahati, the capital of Eastern Indian State, Assam at around 02:28 am, killing a 6-year-old boy (Durlav Sethia) and injuring 23 others at Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar district of the Indian State Assam on 8th July, 2010, during Bodo militants, straining at the leash after the arrest of their leader.

The Government of India should realize the fact that the demands of separate state of the indigenous peoples of the North East can never be resolved by any alternative arrangements. The arrangements given to the Boro people by two Boro Accords (1993 and 2003) are the glaring examples. The government of India attempted and experimented to solve the problem by giving autonomous rule as the option to the Boro people but is proved failure. The movement for statehood is taking again its bold footing in a speedy pace and will continue till Boroland state is achieved. The NDFB (P) at present is taking up the cause of the Boro people’s demand for a separate state.”

NDFB(P) further claimed, “It has been knocking at the door of the Government of India for the last six years and demanding to create Boroland as per the provision of Article 2 & 3 of the Indian constitution. The NDFB (P) as well as the entire Boro people will accept nothing short of separate state. Political restiveness among the disgruntled Boro people is growing alarmingly against the autonomous rule given to them instead of separate state. There are many Boro organizations which are determined to fight along with the NDFB (P) for the cause of Boroland state.

We are ready to support those, who come forward for the cause. The NDFB (P) therefore extends its support to the 24-hours Assam Bandh called by the United Democratic People’s Front on demand of Boroland state on the 28th July, 2011. Not only that the NDFB (P) is ready to welcome and support any program of agitation taken by the Boro organizations for the cause of Boroland state.

In this context, we would like to appeal the people of all the circles to support and co-operate with us for the interest of bringing a permanent peace in the region by granting Boroland state to the Boro and other indigenous peoples living in northern bank of the Brahmaputra.”
