Municipal Corporation to celebrate Baisaikhi Mela on 14th April

The Municipal Corporation will celebrate Baisakhi Mela in a traditional manner on 14th April, 2010 at New Lake, sector 42. This was decided in a meeting of the Arts, culture and sports Committee, Municipal Corporation , which was held under the chairmanship of Brig. Kuldip Singh Chandpuri.

It was decided that the Baisakhi Mela will be celebrated in a traditional manner on 14th April, 2010 at New Lake, sector 42. Renowned singers and artists from Punjab are likely to take part in the celebrations which will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm. Camel and cart rides and other attractions for children will be arranged during the celebrations. The celebration will be open to the public and there will be no entry fee.

To promote the games and sports within the Municipal Corporation, it was decided to hold a friendly cricket match between the Mayor XI and the Commissioner XI will be played on 17th April, 2010 from 8 am to 12 noon in the Cricket stadium, sector 16, Chandigarh. Some prominent Cricketers of the City will be the special invitees to grace the match.
