LeT Commander Killed in Pulwama Encounter: Gunfight in Kashmir

Two militants were killed in separate gunfights in Indian Administrated Kashmir

Based on a specific information about presence of two terrorists in village Supathian, District Pulwama, a joint operation was launched by Army and SOG Pulwama on the 3rd October 2011.

The terrorist was hiding in a house and when challenged, fired upon the tps thus triggering the encounter. During the ensuing gunfight, one terrorist was killed who has been identified as Abdul Rehman alias Rehman bhai. Abdul Rehman is a foreign terrorist belonging to LeT Tanzeem and was a Divisional Commander of LeT, South Kashmir. He was active in Sopore for the past 11 years and in Pulwama since 2007. He was a successful motivator credited with recruiting local cadres in South Kashmir.

One INSAS rifle, three AK Magazines, 90 rounds of AK ammunition and war like stores were recovered till reports last came in,” Srinagar based Defence Spokesman Lt Col JS Brar said.

In a separate incident in Dardpura Area of Kupwara an unidentified terrorist was killed by Security Forces in an encounter. The Army spokesman said the details of the incident are being ascertained as the operation is still in progress.
