Israeli Embassy Vehicle Targeted in India, 4 Injured

New Delhi: At least four people were injured including the wife of a senior Israeli diplomat when a car belonging to the Israeli Embassy exploded in the VVIP area of Indian capital-Delhi on Monday.

According to the initial reports the SUV car, bearing number 109 CD 35, went up in flames after it exploded near a petrol pump, just meters away from the Indian PM’s residence.

However some unconfirmed reports said that the car was being tailed by two men on a motorcycle.

“Four persons are said to be injured and have been rushed to a nearby hospital. Among the injured is a 42-year-old lady who was posted as an administrative attache in the Israeli Embassy,” reported Leading news Indian channel.

Meanwhile, Another Channel Zee News quoting sources has reported that there is a possibility the car was specially ‘targeted’.

“The fears were compounded as in a similar incident, an explosives-laden car was found near the Israeli Embassy in Georgia today. That device was defused by police.” said the report.

After the incident, explosive experts rushed to the spot and are trying to find out the exact nature of the blast.
