Hizbul Mujahideen supremo and chairman of the United Jehad Council (UJC) – an amalgam of different militant groups operating in Kashmir Tuesday termed the ongoing dialogue process between arch rivals India and Pakistan as a futile exercise.
“Whenever Kashmir resurfaces and catches the attention of the world, India as part of its strategy engages Pakistan in dialogue and unfortunately Pakistan succumbs. Everyone knows the outcome of such a futile exercise. It proves nothing and delays tactics on the part of India,” Salahudin told a local news gathering agency (CNS) in Srinagar on the phone.
Salahuddin is presently based in Pakistan administered Kashmir.
He said dialogue with India is unacceptable to the militant leadership. “India is an occupying force so there is no question of having any sort of dialogue with this country. Some part of our territory is under Pakistan as well. Dialogue on Kashmir will be fruitful only if it will be tripartite in nature. All the three parties including India, Pakistan and Kashmiri representatives should come on the table and resolve this long pending dispute,” he said.
Criticising the Indian government for violating human rights of people and arresting youth and political leaders in Kashmir, Salahudin said hundreds of political prisoners including Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Masrat Aalam and Asiya Andrabi have been languishing in jail. “Their health has been deteriorating and they are being deprived of medical facility,” he alleged.
