IB Additional Director R N Behura Dies At Age 56

Additional Director of Intelligence Bureau R N Behura died on Sunday due to serious injuries in a road accident on 9th of April.

He was 56 years old.

Behura was admitted in Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) after a road mishap at Sonapur. He underwent treatment for the past six days.

On 9th of April, when Behura and Additional DGP of Assam Police Pallab Bhattacharya returned back to Guwahati from Numaligarh in Golaghat district after investigating the blast incident at Numaligarh Oil Refinery, their car collided with a truck on NH-37 near Sonapur.

Both senior officials were injured and admitted in GNRC in critical condition. However, Behura’s condition has not improved.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited GNRC and pay his last respects to the 1979 batch IPS officer of the Manipur-Tripura cadre.

“He was one of the best officer. We have lost an “energetic officer” who worked hard in his duty,” Gogoi said.

Indian Police Medal awardee Behura was posted in North Eastern region in 2011.

His body will be flown to Odisha for a funeral rites.
